Rave: Shop it to Me

I have to admit, for as much as I like to shop, I hate malls. The parking, the surplus of people, it's just not the most relaxing way to spend a Sunday. Or Wednesday lunch hour. Whatever.

This is why I must admit I adore this website called Shop It To Me. To sign up, you get to pick all your favorite brands and designers, what items you tend to buy most (i.e., shoes v. panties, purses v. dresses, etc), and your sizes. Then, at a frequency determined by you alone, they send you a personalized email with all the items you love that are on sale in your size.

How else would I have scored a olive green velvet jacket from J. Crew for only $40!

Now, I cannot afford brands like the afore mentioned Marc Jacobs, but Shop It To Me allows me that additional bit of shopping porn--the thought that I might actually could.

In addition, you can log on anytime and see what sales you are having, without having to wait for an email!

A few warnings, though--check the return policy from the site which your buying. Although I love online shopping, we all know it can be a little dicey in the fit-and-feel department, so make sure you're able to return something you're not 100% sure about.

Other than that, please feel free to shop it forward (get it? Like that Helen Hunt movie "Pay it Forward" with the creepy kid from "Sixth Sense"? But shopping. I slay me).

Yellow Velvet

So, as an avid blog follower, former travel blogger and a lover of fashion, I have finally returned to the fold.

In the past few years, I have become a Professional Woman, let work take over my life, let life take over my work, and I am continuing to find a balance between the two (or three?). Therefore, I have returned to the blogging world to take a step towards having an extracurricular activity, other than going to the gym and trying not to gain another dress size.

When I was considering how I should start, I looked at the blogs I read every day, and the things I follow. I realized that my adulation of fashion, from the designers of haute couture down to my favorite DIY vintage store down the street, should probably be where I will start.

So, this is where I'm beginning--regurgitating fashion news, posting my favorite looks, and generally giving my opinion on everything from red carpet moments to sweatsuits.

I encourage potential readers to join in--send me looks, tell me your thoughts and feelings, tell me about your favorite designer or store. I certainly don't know everything, and I'm ready to hear all about it.

And with that, I'll leave you with my favorite look from Mark Jacob's Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear collection. It's the love child of my two favorite things, mustard yellow and velvet (I love Jessica Stam too, so should it be three?)! Ferosh!
